چکیده

Although chemical pesticides play a vital role in controlling the number of harmful insects, they also contribute to accelerate pollution soil, air and water. Due frequent use, insects become resistant active ingredients very quickly; destroy natural enemies pests, have effect on humans. Accordingly, application biological protection, that is, use living organisms (predators parasites) plant protection programs protected areas, takes larger scale worldwide rather than pesticides. The aim our research was determining effectiveness pirate bug Orius laevigatus (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) reducing population Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis). Experiment set commercial greenhouses (3 unheated plastic tunnels, ca. 125 m2, each), located area Dabilje, Republic Macedonia, during 2019 2020. results obtained correspond expectation trips. Predator proved be effective population.

Predation by Orius insidiosus (Heteroptera: Anthocoridae) on Life Stages and Species of Frankliniella Flower Thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in Pepper Flowers

We compared predation of Orius insidiosus (Say) on adult and second instars of Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) andon adults ofF. occidentalis andF. tritici (Fitch) in arenaswith pepper ßowers. Also, we compared the dispersal of these thrips in the presence and absence of the predator. For each experiment, two densities of thrips (10 and 20 total thrips) and two time exposures (10 and 34 h...

An Evaluation of Frankliniella occidentalis (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) and Frankliniella intonsa (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) Performance on Different Plant Leaves Based on Life History Characteristics

To compare the performance of Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) and native Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom) on cucumber and tomato leaves in laboratory, life history characters were investigated, and life tables were constructed using the method of age-stage, two-sex table life. Compared with tomato leaf, there were shorter total preoviposition period (TPOP), higher fecundity, longer female l...

Comparison of seven methods for rearing western flower thrips Frankliniella occidentalis (Thysanoptera: Thripidae)

ABSTRACT-The species Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande),western flower thrips, is a highly polyphagous pest and an important vector of tospoviruses on several crops and ornamental plants. Western flower thrips has been introduced throughout the world and has been subject to many biological studies including mass rearing. In this survey, seven common mass rearing methods of F. occidentalis we...

Integrated management tactics for Frankliniella thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in field-grown pepper.

In a 2-yr study, the impacts of different plastic soil mulches, insecticides, and predator releases on Frankliniella thrips and their natural enemies were investigated in field-grown peppers. Ultraviolet light (UV)-reflective mulch significantly reduced early season abundance of adult thrips compared with standard black plastic mulch. This difference diminished as the growing seasons progressed...

Toward the identification of Frankliniella species in Brazil (Thysanoptera, Thripidae)

This paper provides an illustrated key to about 40 species of Frankliniella recorded from Brazil, together with notes about each species. Two new synonyms are established: Frankliniella longispinosa Moulton is a synonym of Frankliniella varipes Moulton; Frankliniella rodeos Moulton is a synonym of Frankliniella gemina Bagnall, all described originally from South America. One new species is desc...
